Building a debian Image for ImX6 Rex

Hi,

Our Development kits arrived yesterday. Robert Nelson put together some quick instructions for building a debian image. The Rex follows some standards so its looking good that most things are going to work out of the box !!

After you boot up your Imex for the first time

touch /uEnv.txt
cp /uImage /uImage_original

Then on another machine ( a reasonably modern debian or ubuntu machine is good )

git clone https://github.com/RobertCNelson/imx-devel.git
cd imx-devel/
git checkout origin/v3.0.x-rex -b v3.0.x-rex
./build_kernel.sh
./tools/install_kernel.sh

the build_kernel script will grab all the nessariy bits and create the image.. The install_kernel.sh script will copy it onto an SD Card, which you can use to boot the rex from..

Its quite a bit of downloading, ( ~2GB ) and it might take a few hours for it all to be finished. In a few days i’ll see if i can create a SD card image and post it somewhere so you can just download it.

NB. this kernel isn’t the most up to date, but we’ll get there over the next week or so I imagine.
